University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Programs

The University of Pittsburgh offers nursing programs at many levels. Students with a high school degree can be admitted to the Bachelor’s degree program. RNs that have an entry-level education through a community college or hospital training program are eligible to enter into the RN options program which is the fast-track to earning a BSN. Students that have already received a Bachelor’s degree through another program are eligible for the fast-track second degree track. All students receive an excellent education and superior clinical experience.

Nurse practitioners, nurse anesthesiologist, and nurse clinicians are eligible to enroll in the Master of Science (MSN) and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. Students enrolled in these programs will be prepared for a career in nursing administration, research management, nursing education, or informatics. There are four majors and about thirteen specialties within the Master’s program, including the program for CNL or Clinical Nurse Leader. In each program students have the opportunity for mentorship. According to the U.S. News and World Report, the University of Pittsburgh Nursing Graduate Program has been ranked in the top ten graduate schools in the U.S.

Students wishing to prepare for a career in academics, as clinical investigators or as well-respected leaders in the profession can continue on to the PhD program. This program is also highly ranked.
