Doctor of Nursing Science (DNSc, DNS or DSN) Degree

The Doctor of Nursing Science (DNS, DSN, DNSc, or DScN) degree is a terminal, doctoral-level nursing degree focused on theory and academic research. DNS programs are offered by universities and colleges all over the world. The U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation recognize Doctor of Nursing Science degrees to be equivalent to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing degrees. Ph.D. in nursing degrees are much more popular than Doctor of Nursing Science degrees; in fact, most educational institutions are discontinuing DNS degrees altogether, opting instead for Ph.D. in Nursing degrees.

More information about DNS degrees can be found in the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing page.
