University of the People

University of the People (UoPeople) is a non-profit, accredited online university dedicated to providing affordable online education. Headquartered in Pasadena, California, UoPeople is tuition-free, and operates on an annual budget of only $1.2 million, utilizing a global network of volunteers for many of its needs and programs. These volunteers include professionals from corporations, organizations, and academic institutions, who donate their expertise and service to support the university's tuition-free mission.

There are four undergraduate degrees available through UoPeople: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science, Associate of Science (A.S.) in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration, and Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business Administration.

While UoPeople is tuition-free, it is not completely free. Incoming students must pay a registration fee, ranging from $10 to $50 depending on country of residence and income level. Students must also pay a $100 fee for each exam they take. Each degree requires students to take 40 exams, which amounts to a total of $4,000 dollars. Students who can't afford these fees can apply for scholarships.

As all programs at University of the People are offered through online distance learning, students from all over the nation have the ability to earn their degree at a low cost from wherever they reside.
