Los Medanos College

Los Medanos College (LMC) is an institution that prides itself on creating a cooperative environment for students to earn a two-year degree before transferring to a four-year college. An enrollment of around 14,000 fills classes at the Pittsburg, California, location, as well as at the school’s extension at Brentwood.

LMC offers a variety of associate degrees – 35 at last count – and certificate of achievement in various disciplines – 23.

Specialized programs in a variety of areas are available, including MESA, which is a math, engineering, science achievement. A program called Peunte solves issues involving students who may be unrepresented. LMC also offers an Honors Transfer program and a specialized program for students who want to transfer called AVID.

If chemical and oil refinery occupations are desired, the PTEC (Process Technology) program fits the bill for those students.

New students, as well as African-American enrollees, work in the Umoja Scholars program. This program puts a focus on the educational experience for all students.

The school also offers an official Fire Academy, which is approved by the state fire marshall.

With online classes at Los Medanos students can work toward earning their degree anytime, anywhere. Online education is convenient and affordable at Lost Medanos College.
