Franciscan School of Theology

The Franciscan School of Theology (FST) is a theological graduate school in Oceanside, California, offering training in Roman Catholic theology to lay men and women of the church. The Province of Saint Barbara of the Order of Friars Minor owns and operates the graduate school, which is affiliated with the nearby University of San Diego (itself a private Roman Catholic institution). The Franciscan School of Theology provides an environment for the concerns of modern day society to intersect with theological education.

FST offers two degree programs. The Master of Theological Studies (MTS) program provides students with a broad theological education, and takes two years to complete. The Master of Divinity (M Div.) degree is a more in-depth, four-year program. Students of the M Div. program will receive the training and instruction necessary to become ordained into the Roman Catholic priesthood.

The Franciscan School of Theology is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and by The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.
