Diablo Valley College
A key element for a community college is the ease of transfer to four-year institutions for continued study. Diablo Valley College (DVC) meets these needs as one of the top five transfer schools in the state of California.DVC is located in Pleasant Hill but has satellite campuses in Walnut Creek and San Ramon. Additional classes are taught in other locations including Martinez, San Ramon, Concord and Danville. DVC is popular with more than 22,000 enrollees and more than 600 full or part-time instructors.
Students most often transfer from this “feeder” school to Cal (Berkeley), St. Mary’s College and Cal State-East Bay, as well as UC Davis, and San Francisco State.
Areas of study in the occupational specialty field include dental technology, hotel and restaurant management, real estate and culinary arts. The speech and debate programs are also popular areas of learning.
DVC has a thriving Asian international enrollment, giving them an option other than in what can be overcrowded classes at other state universities.
