Columbia International University

Columbia International University (CIU) is a Christian university offering a range of liberal arts programs as well as Bible and ministry programs. CIU is a biblical university, and as such its curriculum places a strong focus on biblical authority, spiritual formation, and world evangelization. CIU, in its mission to render service and help solve humanity's problems, produces two kinds of graduates: "ministering professionals,"which would include psychologists, teachers, and business professionals, and "professional ministers," such as pastors.

Columbia International University is located in Columbia, South Carolina, and is comprised of five colleges: the College of Education, the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Intercultural Studies, the College of Counseling, and the Seminary & School of Ministry. All courses of study place an emphasis on biblical studies and Christian education, so it is common for faculty members to be shared among different colleges.

In terms of academics, CIU emphasizes liberal arts and the humanities. CIU's undergraduate division, formerly called the Bible College, is the college's oldest division. There are many majors available in a variety of disciplines through the undergraduate division. CIU's general education guidelines require all students, regardless of major, to take a number of courses in biblical studies. CIU also has a Graduate School, which is primarily intended to complement the university's undergraduate programs. Education is the main focus of CIU's Graduate School; however, there is also a growing postgraduate program in counseling.

Online Degrees at CIU
Many of CIU's degrees are available completely online. Students also have the option of choosing hybrid programs, which combine traditional on-campus classes with online learning. Online programs are particularly popular among students with full-time jobs and/or family responsibilities. The schedules of these online programs are very flexible, and don't require the student to be physically present on campus. This means that students can study whenever their busy schedules allow, and from any location with an Internet connection. Many courses are offered via CIU's extension sites in Korntal, Germany, and in Atlanta, Georgia.
