Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences

The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences is a privately owned, non-profit higher education institution in Oakland, California that offers graduate level studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It was founded in 1982 and was one of the first schools in the United States to offer a program in TCM.

The academy offers a master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a certificate in Tui Na Massage. In addition to English, both these programs are also offered in Chinese.

The Masters of Science (MS) in TCM degree takes four-years to complete. The program offers students in-class lectures, internships and various research opportunities, all of which will help students as they work toward their TCM certification. Topics covered include acupressure, Tai chi, herbology, and acupunture. Students who enroll in the MS in TCM will prepare to take the National Acupuncture Board Certification Exam.

The Tui Na Massage Therapy Certificate Program requires approximately 300 to 500 semester hours to complete. The program focuses on techniques of acupressure and massage. Tui Na is an ancient oriental therapy that is a foundational block of TCM. The Tui Na form of massage is used to address various ailments including muscle pain, internal disorders, problems with joints, and injuries. The Tui Na Massage Therapy Certificate Program prepares students to become certified Tui Na practitioners.
