Police Detective Salary

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, on average police detectives can expect to earn a salary of $55,000 a year. About 10 percent of detectives earn annual salaries of $86,010. Police detectives the advance into supervisory or management positions can earn even more. Demand for detectives will continue to increase through 2018. Because of the poor economy, crime will probably continue to rise, so the services of qualified and educated detectives and other police officers will continue to be in demand. As demand for police detective and officers increases compensation should become more attractive. Police dectectives that have earned a bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study are in highest demand.
