University of Atlanta

The University of Atlanta is a private distance learning university headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Formerly known as Barrington University, the University of Atlanta was accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) from 2008 to 2013, at which time its accreditation was terminated. The University of Atlanta has had problems with the State of Alabama since the year 2000. State investigators, upon discovering that the university (Barrington at that time) was running its operations from the offices of a secretarial company, threatened to revoke the school's operating license. Barrington University changed its name to the University of Atlanta in 2008.

The DETC announced in 2012 that the University of Atlanta had stopped enrolling new students, and that the school's accreditation would expire in June of 2013. The university is no longer accepting students.
