University of the West

Since earning accreditation in 2006, University of the West (or “UWest”) has continued to grow in enrollment and significance. UWest, which is centered in Rosemead, California, has grown to 348 students as of 2014 spring semester.

The school was founded by Buddhists but is designated as an undergraduate and degree institution. The student body has enrollees from as many as 50 countries, which gives the school an international feel. Around 40 percent of those enrolled are U.S. citizens, many originating in the Los Angeles area. UWest holds membership status with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This allows for seamless transfers to other regional and national colleges.
