The University of Texas at Austin (also called UT Austin, UT, or simply Texas) is a state research university in Austin, Texas. UT Austin enrolls more than 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students, which is the 5th largest single-campus enrollment in the United States. The university is the flagship institution of the University of Texas System, and is considered one of the "Public Ivies" (public institutions which offer Ivy League-quality education).

There are more than 100 undergraduate and 170 graduate degree programs available at UT Austin. The university is well-known for its innovative programs encouraging leadership development and academic excellence, such as the Texas Interdisciplinary Plan and the Freshman Research Initiative.

UT Austin is widely considered to be one of the best public universities in the country, and is often ranked as such by numerous publications. U.S. News & World Report ranked UT Austin the 45th best university in the country, and the 13th best public university in the country. UT Austin's School of Architecture was ranked 2nd among national undergraduate programs, the Cockrell School of Engineering was ranked 9th among undergraduate engineering programs, and the McCombs School of Business was ranked 7th among undergraduate business programs. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report listed UT Austin at 67th on its rankings of "World's Best Universities."

Through the University Extension, UT Austin offers individual self-paced college courses that can be completed entirely online. UT Austin's McCombs School of Business also offers a fully online MBA degree program designed for working professionals and international students who are unable to to participate in a campus-based MBA program. All online degree and distance learning programs at UT Austin offer the same high caliber education and curriculum as traditional campus-based programs.
