University of Memphis

The University of Memphis (commonly referred to as the U of M) is a public research university in Memphis, Tennessee. Originally established in 1912, the University of Memphis offers degree programs at undergraduate and graduate levels to a student body of 21,000 students (17,000 of whom are undergraduate students). The majority of the University of Memphis's students come from the Memphis metropolitan area and from West Tennessee; however, the university enrolls students from all 50 United States and approximately 100 other countries throughout the world.

The University of Memphis provides numerous non-credit programs through its Division of Professional and Continuing Education. These non-credit programs include online courses and business training programs, among others. Through the university's eCampus students can earn an undergraduate or graduate degree entirely online. Areas of study available through online distance learning include psychology, history, computer science, criminology, journalism, communications, health, business administration and leadership.
