Snead State Community College

Snead State Community College is a two-year community college located in Boaz, Alabama. Founded in 1899 as a private seminary, Snead officially became part of the Alabama Community College System in 1967. The college offers 7 associate's degree programs and 10 certification programs.

Snead offers over 80 fields of study for students to choose from. These include Accounting, Business, Biology, Chemistry, Math, Science, Education, Technology, Management, Marketing, Health, Speech, Economics, Art, Merchandising and Criminal Justice, among many others. Snead offers Associate in Science (AS) and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees. Student who plan on attending a four-year college or university upon graduation should earn an AS degree. Students who are certain they'll enter the workforce upon graduate should earn an AAS degree. AAS degrees are offered in Applied Business, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering Technology, Nursing and Office Administration.

The college also wards certificates and short-term certificates. A certificate is less than a degree. It requires minimum of 30 semester hours but no more than 60 semester hours. Currently, the only certificate available is in Child Development. Short-term certificates can be completed with minimum of 9 semester credit hours and no more than 29 semester credit hours. Short-term certificates are available in Accounting, Agri-business, Finance, Management, Marketing, Nursing Assistant, Office Administration and several other career-oriented disciplines.
