Shelton State Community College is a two-year institution of higher learning located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It serves a student body of roughly 7,000 students, of whom 3,000 are full-time students. Based on annual enrollment numbers, Shelton State one of the largest two-year institutions in the state of Alabama.

Shelton State is home to many important facilities, such as the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission, which trains paid and volunteer fire fighters and EMTs throughout Alabama. The college's campus is also home to the Alabama Stage and Screen Hall of Fame, and Theatre Tuscaloosa (based in Shelton State's Bean Browne Theatre). The Alabama state legislature also designated Shelton State Community College the Alabama Junior College of the Fine Arts.
