Northwestern State University

Northwestern State University of Louisiana (NSU) is a public university based in Natchitoches, Louisiana. A part of the University of Louisiana system, NSU enrolls approximately 10,000 students, and offers more than 50 degree programs. In addition to its main campus in Natchitoches, NSU operates general campuses in Alexandria and Leesville/Fort Polk, as well as a nursing campus in Shreveport.

Northwestern State University of Louisiana was originally established as the Louisiana State Normal School in 1884. It was the first institution in the state of Louisiana to offer business education and nursing degree programs. It was also among the first colleges to join NASA's Joint Venture Program (JOVE), which gave students the opportunity to work with NASA scientists on the 1996 Space Shuttle Columbia mission. NSU's campus is also home to the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, a state-funded residential high school (sophomores through seniors).

NSU is regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and is a member of both the Association of American Colleges and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

Online associate's degrees are available in general studies. Online bachelor's degrees are available in criminal justice, liberal arts, organizational leadership, general studies, accounting, business administration, addiction studies, family sciences, child development, science in psychology, radiologic technology, nursing, public administration and allied health.
