Mount San Antonio College

One of the largest community colleges in California, Mt. San Antonio College (referred to as Mt. SAC) hosts more than 50,000 students. Located just west of California State Polytechnic University, you will find the college in Walnut, California.

Mt. SAC is nationally known for its aviation and aircraft maintenance programs. It is one of less than 40 colleges in the U.S. to offer the CTI (College Training Initiative program) through the FAA. Students are attracted to the college from across the United States specifically for this program to earn their associate degree in Aviation Science for positions with the FAA in air traffic control.

In addition to this well-known program, Mt. SAC has a large Commercial Flight degree program. It also hosts an off-campus flight training program at Brackett Airport. The college’s flying team has been ranked the best community college team in the western U.S. Mt. SAC also offers an on-campus co-op with Southern Illinois University to earn a bachelor’s degree for Aviation Management.

Although aviation programs are flagship for the college, they also offer a dance, music and theatre building, high-tech classrooms, and newer science and lab facilities. Mt. SAC also boasts a number of sports/athletic related resources as well. In addition to the general sports facilities, the college also offers two soccer fields, a putting green, a football field, a newer baseball complex and an Olympic-sized pool. Also on the grounds, students have a working farm available for their use. Here you will find all manner of farm animals as well as a facility used to rehabilitate retired racing dogs in cooperation with a local greyhound rescue team.

Mt. SAC offers a variety of distance education programs, including online courses, designed for non-traditional students (working adults, professionals, parents, etc.) Online courses can be completed at your own pace, according to your schedule. Most online programs at M. SAC still require occasional campus attendance.
