Mills College

In 1852 Mills College was the first women’s college for students west of the Rockies and started as a ladies seminary in Benicia, California. Now, Mills College is now located in the Bay Area (Oakland) and offers graduate programs for both sexes. In total, the college offers nearly 100 degrees, certificate and credentials. Part of Mills College is the school of education, as well as the Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business.

U.S. News and World Report ranks Mills College as fifth in the West as a school that offers great education and value. The Princeton Review also had good things to say about Mills College, including mentioning attempts by the school to go “green.” In Washington Monthly, Mills College earned accolades as a Top 10 school in master’s degrees.

There are seven bachelor’s to master’s degree areas of study and students can also, if they wish, design a custom college major program -- with faculty approval, of course. Accelerated degree programs can speed up the process of receiving a degree and get the graduates out into their chosen profession at a faster rate.
