Emporia State University

Emporia State University (ESU) is a higher education institution located in Emporia, Kansas. It was founded in 1863 a training school for teachers. Since its inception the school's name has changed four times. It was first established at the Kansas Normal School. In 1923 its name was changed to Kansas State Teachers College, then Emporia Kansas State College in 1974, and finally to Emporia State University in 1977.

Emporia State offers students over 240 full time faculty and professors that are highly skilled in one of 21 fields of study and disciplines. Professors are assigned to work in one of four major academic colleges, or "schools". These include the School of Business, School of Library and Information Management, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Teachers College. Students at ESU come from across Kansas, across the United States, and from 53 foreign countries.

ESU also offers 11 graduate online licensure programs.
