Diplomatic Security Special Agent Salary

The salary for most new diplomatic security special agents ranges from about $40,000 to $55,000 a year depending on their qualifications and the location they're assigned to. Once training has been completed, special agents become eligible for Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP), with is equal to a 25% increase of their base salary.

Exceptional performance qualifies agents for automatic grade and pay increases during their first 3 years as diplomatic security agent. Following this time period, promotions are competitive and based only recommendation by piers, superiors and ultimately an appointed selection panel.
