Defense Language Institute

The U.S. Department of Defense sponsors the Defense Language Institute (DLI) as an immersive program of study for acquisition of second languages. Not only does DLI offer linguistic study but cultural study as well. It is considered both an educational and research school for the Department of Defense and other agencies of the federal government. It also trains students from around the world. Other areas of education include curriculum development and planning, as well as educating Department of Defense employees in English and assigned languages.
